Tour Week 1

We have completed the first six events at Abingdon, Loughborough, Godstone, Norwich, Lincoln and Liversedge. With approximately £2,000 raised for UNICEF it is proving well worthwhile and everyone seems to be enjoying the experience. For my part I am using the opportunity to reacquaint myself with my own country and its history and nature. In Lincoln I visited both the Cathedral and Castle, and then took a morning walking around the Whisby Natural Park. With a free day in Yorkshire I drove over to Bolton Abbey near Keighley to see the ruined priory and walk the banks of the River Wharfe. It is a really pretty location although a little too civilised for me, gravel paths and cafes, but the scenery is beautiful and I saw some Mandarin ducks, a breed I have not seen for years. Trouble With Props!

Trouble With Props!

Always something! The container ship has had a problem with her propellors (can't blame Lucas for this one) and had to go into dry dock to have things rectified. Subsequently the final 180 miles drive will be delayed until next week. I have selected to finish at Abingdon and the MGCC has kindly agreed that we may use Kimber House as the official finishing line. Birthday Special

It is precisely one year since Bridget and I left the UK on this adventure. I had no idea of the challenges and experiences ahead of us or even if we would get much beyond Germany. I have been fortunate enough to meet hundreds of beautiful people and made some marvellous new friends. My thanks go to all those I have met, especially those that went out of their way to help so much, and in particular all the MG’ers in Oz. My thoughts recently have also been very much with those new friends that I made in Iran and Pakistan. I hope things improve for you all so that you are free to live your lives the way you want. Finally my special thanks go to my family who have been so supportive rather than just humouring the poor old man....
